What can I do to prepare for a disaster?
There are 4 simple steps that we should all take to prepare ourselves and they are;
- Get a kit - Prepare a disaster supply kit that includes 3 days worth of food and water, a first aid kit, weather appropriate clothes and any tools that you may need. For a more complete list of ideas visit www.ready.gov
- Make a plan - Plan in advance what you will do in an emergency situation. Develop a family communications plan. Consider a plan where each family member calls, texts, or emails the same out of area friend or relative to check in and relay information. Know the emergency plans at school and at work.
- Be informed - Contact the Emergency Management Coordinator to discuss what hazards affect ou community and how to prepare for them specifically.
- Get involved - After preparing yourself and your family get involved in different volunteer agencies that help prepare our community. For an up to date list of what is needed contact the Emergency Management Coordinator.
